How does Diamond Prices Work?
Derived in real-time from actual asking prices of the global diamond industry, IDEX Online Diamond Prices objectively reflects price trends as they happen. The Diamond Index and Diamond Drivers were formulated following comprehensive research and analysis of the IDEX inventory database, aggregated since February 2001. Research and development were conducted in cooperation with Dr. Avi Wohl, Senior Lecturer of Finance at the Faculty of Management, Tel Aviv University.

Diamond Drivers
View indices and real-time average asking prices for the 15 leading diamond categories accounting for approximately 45 percent of polished diamond trade. These 15 drivers are composed of 300 selected stone profiles, based on highest percentage of market in terms of $ value, as well as top frequency level. The index for each driver is composed from a weighted average of its corresponding stone profiles.

Diamond Index
Dynamically derived from price changes of the diamond drivers, this single composite reflects the global diamond market trend.

The composition of drivers and their relative percent of index were defined with reference to a period of 12 months – April 2004 to April 2005. The composition of diamond drivers is continuously monitored and in accordance with market behavior, changes may be applied every six months.
