IDL to Set Up Grading Lab in Istanbul: Turkey’s First

IDL plans to set up a fully fledged laboratory in Istanbul at the headquarters of the Istanbul Chamber of Jewelry (IKO), the first of its kind in Turkey. The news was announced during the Istanbul Jewelry Show.

The lab, which will offer diamond and jewelry certification services, will be located in the headquarters of IKO in the heart of the Istanbul diamond and jewelry center and will be run by a team of international experts. The first certificate is expected to be issued in June.

“High quality certificates, offered locally to the business community, are essential for the further development of the Turkish diamond and jewelry business,” Allaattin Kameroclu, president of IKO, said, welcoming the move. “IDL has the right products and services to respond to that need.”

“Turkey has become a leading jewelry manufacturing center and a rapidly growing diamond jewelry consumer market,” added Peter Meeus, CEO of IDL. “A presence in Istanbul is a logical next step for IDL. We are delighted to have the support of a trade organization like IKO.”

The Istanbul Chamber of Jewelry (IKO) represents some 6,000 wholesalers and retailers from the Istanbul region.

IDL currently operates offices in Antwerp, Dubai and Mumbai.
