Initiative Brings European Retailers & Indian Jewelry Manufacturers Together

October 24, 11 by IDEX Online Staff Reporter

(IDEX Online News) – India’s GJEPC is organizing an Indo-Europe jewelry summit, scheduled to run November 15-20. Essentially in the format of a buyer-seller meet, the summit will involve a series of meetings between 20 leading European retailers and 15 Indian jewelry manufacturers.

The GJEPC has already held two such summits in 2009 and 2010 with very good results, with some 30 leading European retailers having so far taken part.

“Our research has shown that the top 100 jewelry retailers from Europe represent some 7,000 points of sale. This means that with this unique tool, we have attracted more than 60% of the European top 100 potential to India. While there is still a sizable potential left, I believe we have created a major gate to India for other retailers to follow in the steps of their colleagues,” says Filip Van Laere, CEO of Diamond Dreams@Work, the consultants who helped shape and implement the initiative.

GJEPC Chairman Rajiv Jain observed that the initiative has played a vital role in helping the Indian industry penetrate the European market through the development of one-on-one connections between European retailers and Indian jewelry manufacturers.

This year’s summit, apart from having participants from such diverse European markets as France, Germany, Poland and other Eastern European nations, will also feature a major jewelry retail chain from South Africa. For the first time, the participants will also include wholesalers, TV jewelry channels and one of the leading luxury retailers of France.

On the Indian side, the participating jewelry manufacturers are Asian Star, Core Jewellery, Fine jewellery, Goldiam International, Indigo Jewellery, Inter Carat Jewelry, Inter Gold, KBS Designs, Kiran Jewels, Patdiam Jewellery, Priority Jewels, SNC Jewels, Stellar Jewellery, Sunjewels International and Uni-Design Jewellery.
