Lucapa Recovers Two +100-cts Diamonds
March 10, 24(IDEX Online) - Lucapa has recovered two +100-cts diamonds on consecutive days from its Lulo mine, in Angola.
The 162-cts and 116-cts stones, both from the terraces of mining block 46, are the biggest recoveries since last November, when the Australian miner announced it had a 235-cts and a 208-cts diamond.
The 162-cts diamond will be sold as part of Lucapa's run of mine sale later this month and the 116-cts Type IIa diamond will be sold at a future tender.
The largest ever recovery at the Lulo alluvial mine - which commands the highest price per carat for alluvial diamonds in the world - was a 404 carat Type IIa diamond, in February 2016.
Lucapa holds a 40 per cent stake in the mine. The remainder is owned by Angola's national diamond company Endiama (32 per cent) and by private Angolan company Rosas & Petalas (28 per cent).
