Christie's to Sell Schumacher Watch Collection
March 25, 24(IDEX Online) - A collection of eight watches owned by Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher is to be sold by Christie's Geneva as part of its Rare Watches Live Auction in May.
It marks the 30th anniversary of his first Formula 1 Drivers Championship win in 1994.
Schumacher, 55, was severely injured in a skiing accident in in the French Alps in December 2013 and was placed in a medically induced coma for about six months to aid his recovery. Little is known of his condition since then.
Among the highlights of his watch collection is an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak chronograph (pictured), a gift from Jean Todt, his early mentor at Ferrari, to mark the sixth of his seven F1 victories.
There is also a a unique F.P. Journe Vagabondage 1 Model timepiece with a red dial detailing all his World Championship victories.

The auction is on 13 May 2024, at the Four Seasons Hotel des Bergues in Geneva.
