(IDEX Online) - A passenger about to board a plane from India to Thailand was found to be hiding $480,000 of polished diamonds, according to Customs officials.
He had concealed 32 packets of diamonds weighed a total of 1,350.4 carats.
The man, named in a Times of India report as Prabhuprakash Lobo, was taking a Lion Air flight to Bangkok and had gone through "nothing to declare".
He was arrested at Kolhapur Airport, in western India, after the Air Intelligence Unit of Customs received a tipoff. He was then taken for a physical examination.
He reportedly told officials he'd been promised a $180 payment plus a return ticket to Thailand.
