(IDEX Online) - GIA is introducing printed versions of its AGS Ideal Reports.
The grading lab says it's responding to customer demand, despite a general move away from paper to digital.
It is offering discounts for a limited period on printed versions of Ideal Reports produced by its sibling organization AGS (American Gem Society). They measure light performance, including brightness, fire, and contrast from center to edge.
GIA (Gemological Institute of America) faced criticism after it introduced digital-only Diamond Dossiers reports last January, with dealers claiming retail customers still expected a paper certificate.
The lab said at the time that paperless certs were the first step towards phasing out all printed reports with three years, saving tons of paper and plastic.
