LA Wildfires: Woman Retrieves Jewelry from Melted Safe

(IDEX Online) - A woman whose home was destroyed in the LA wildfires found her jewelry unharmed inside a melted safe.
She returned to the charred remains of where she used to live, in Pacific Palisades, and dug through the rubble
The woman, identified only as Gale, a widow, retrieved her wedding ring after somebody used an axe to open the safe, which had part-melted in the blaze.
She also recovered other items of jewelry, her passport and other valuables.
In a TikTok video posted to the ABC News Good Morning America's account she says: "We wanted to get to it before the looters got to it."
The L.A. County Sheriff has announced measures to combat looting and increase security in areas hit by the wildfires.
