IDEX Price Report for 1 November: Fancies Fare Worse than Rounds

(IDEX Online) - There were more losses during October, with fancies faring worse than rounds.

Rounds

Price drops dominated among all 0.50-cts to 1.99-cts goods, mostly in G+ colors and VS1+ clarities. Overall, across all sizes, there were twice as many decreases as increases, largely in line with what we have come to expect in recent months. In 4.00-cts to 4.99-cts there was a more even mix and in 5.00-cts to 5.99-cts there were many more increases than decreases.

Fancies

Fancies fared less well than rounds, with decreases outweighing increases by well over three to one. Among 1.00-cts to 1.24-cts the prices of all G+ and VS2+ goods fell. And among 1.50-cts to 1.99-cts the prices of virtually all I+ and SI3+ goods fell. Unlike rounds, there were no significant clusters of fancy increases.
