Tanishq Opens Biggest US Store, Taps into Indian Diaspora

December 09, 25 by John Jeffay

(IDEX Online) - Tanishq, the jewelry chain headquartered in Bengaluru, has opened its largest store in the US - as it taps into an Indian diaspora estimated at 4.5 m people.

The new 5,000 sqft showroom in Tysons, Virginia, brings the brand to the Greater Washington, D.C. area for the first time and becomes its biggest American outlet.

It is Tanishq's eighth US store after New Jersey, Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Seattle, Atlanta and Santa Clara.

Tanishq is owned by Titan Company, part of Tata Group, the country's largest conglomerate. In India, it operates a network of over 300 showrooms across the country, which remains the core of its business.

The move comes as Indian jewelers accelerate their push into the world's largest consumer market, driven by rising affluence among South Asian Americans and demand for high-purity gold and diamond jewelry with a cultural connection.

Tanishq says US customers increasingly want designs blending Indian heritage with Western wearability, a niche rarely served by mainstream American jewelers.

The Tysons launch also signals how large Indian brands are positioning themselves internationally amid strong global appetite for bridal, festive and investment-grade jewelry.

For the diaspora, buying locally eliminates the delays, shipping risks and customs complications of sourcing pieces from India.

Tanishq's expansion mirrors similar moves by rivals such as Malabar and Kalyan Jewellers, which are adding stores across major U.S. metros as they chase a share of a diversified, high-value jewelry market.
