Christie's to Sell Biggest Fancy Blue at Auction
May 06, 26
(IDEX Online) - Christie's New York says it is to sell the largest fancy blue diamond ever offered at auction.
The pear-shaped Azure Blue is 31.62 carats, described and GIA-graded as potentially internally flawless, and carries an estimate of $6.5 million to $8.5 million.
It will lead the Magnificent Jewels auction, to be held on 9 June.
In May 2025, Christie's Geneva offered the 23.24-carat Golconda Blue, with an estimate of $35 million to $50 million, but withdrawn by the consignor days before the sale.
The Golconda Blue is fancy vivid blue, with a more intense color than the Azure Blue is GIA-graded as fancy blue.
"The stone represents one of the most significant fancy blue diamonds to appear on the market in recent years," said Christie's in its sales announcement. "Blue diamonds of this size, purity, and tone are extraordinarily scarce."
Claibourne Poindexter, head of jewelry, Americas, said: "As the largest Fancy Blue diamond ever offered at auction, Christie's is honored to present this superb stone to a new generation of collectors."
