(IDEX Online) - Spanish-Argentine model and TV personality Georgina RodrÃguez wed Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo last week, wearing gems from a six-piece high-jewelry suite that was cut from a single 342-carat rough diamond.
Chopard acquired the Queen of Kalahari, a Type IIa, flawless, D-color gem, after it was recovered by Lucara from its Karowe mine, in Botswana, in 2015.
The Swiss luxury jewelry and watch company fashioned it into 23 polished diamonds, including five principal stones weighing 20 carats or more.
The largest of all, weighing 50 carats, is the center pendant of a sunflower-design necklace.
Chopard is understood to have loaned the collection to 32-year-old RodrÃguez, their brand ambassador, for the private civil ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, on 11 August.
She wore the necklace and matching earrings with a minimalist white Gucci bridal outfit.
Ronaldo, 41, who played for Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus, and who captained Portugal's national team in the 2026 World Cup, has a fortune estimated by Forbes at $1.2 billion.
The six-piece suite comprises a convertible necklace, earrings, a cuff bracelet, two rings and a secret watch concealed within the bracelet, collectively valued at $75 million.
