HRD Jewelry Design Awards Winners Announced
June 12, 03At an event held at Antwerp’s old city Hilton, the HRD announced that designers Maculan Fernando and Mol Adriano from Brazil won first place in HRD’s Antwerp Diamond High Council Awards 2003.

The winning design is s dog collar called “Hidra”. Like the mythical creature, the collar has thin, snake like, curvy arms going out in all directions with diamonds at the tip of each arm.

The winners were announced last night at an elegant event attended by designers, diamantaires and members of the jury.
An international jury assessed the 50 finalists from among the 900 diamond jewelry designs submitted. This is the first time since 1984 that the biennial HRD diamond jewelry contest is open to international designers. The finalists were from Belgium, Brazil, China, Germany, France, India, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, South Africa and Switzerland.
The jury noted that it was very impressed with the enormous creativity and diversity with which the finalists were inspired by the "Movement(s)" theme.
