IGI Gets ISO 9001 Certification
August 27, 03The Los Angeles and Toronto labs of the International Gemological Institute were granted International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2000 certification for operating a quality management system in the scope of independent third party analysis of diamonds, colored gemstones and jewelry articles.
ISO is a network of national standards institutes from more than 140 countries working together with international organizations, governments, industry, business and consumer representatives to more directly link business objectives with business effectiveness.
ISO 9000 is a generic name given to a family of standards developed to provide a framework around which a quality management system can effectively be based, which was revised in December 2000.
IGI President, Jerry Ehrenwald, called the certification “a milestone for IGI”.
