HK Jewellery & Watch Fair Opens with a Bang
September 17, 03The 21st September Hong Kong Jewellery & Watch Fair is proving to be according to organizers the biggest-ever jewelry fair with a record 1852 exhibitors stretching over an area of more than 59,000 square meters.
To put some order in the sprawling booth area, the Fair has expanded with product classification as the main theme for the first time as the exhibition area is now occupying all the main exhibition halls, including Hall 7 of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center.
The 1,852 exhibitors are from 45 countries and regions, an increase of 6.7 percent over 2002. Many existing exhibitors were able to expand their stands, either by joining the halls of the new specialized themes or by taking up the space of those who have been relocated.
Among the main themed pavilions is the Gemstone Pavilion, which creates a unified marketplace for gemstone traders and brings together over 150 loose gemstone traders from the world's 15 major gem centers. Besides the Gemstone Pavilion, Hall 7 is also dedicated to the Equipment, Packing and Technology Pavilion.
Loose diamond buyers can visit Hall 5, Hall 5 Concourse, Hall 2, Hall 2 Concourse, and Atrium 2 for their targeted products. European Pavilions continue to have a prominent presence in Hall 5. Mezzanine 2 is dedicated to the Creation Zone – Designers' Section and the Antique & Estate Jewellery Pavilion.
The Fine Design Pavilion in the Grand Hall is a platform for the world's fine jewelry trade, displaying collections of jewelry, diamonds, pearls and gemstones. Over 70 of the world's most prestigious jewelers are attending this pavilion. Stands were all sold out at the very early stage of the year.
"Hong Kong is the region's trading capital for the jewelry industry. Hong Kong's vital role in the world's jewelry trade is further enhanced by its free port status and close ties with mainland China." Ms Celine Lau, Jewellery Fair Manager of the Fair Organizer said.
