Alrosa: De Beers’ 3% Price Hike “Logical”
January 14, 04Alrosa feels the three percent price hike announced by De Beers is “objective” and “logical”. De Beers' marketing arm DTC announced the price change last week.
“The motives that lead De Beers to raise the price of uncut diamonds by an average of 3 percent as of January 1, are objective, as they were caused by the weakening dollar rate against the euro and the rising costs of diamond output,” Alrosa’s public relations and advertising department head, Valery Novikov, told Prime-Tass yesterday (Tuesday).
Novikov went on saying that the company is studying the changing global diamond market.
