Diamonds Give Stars Extra Glitter At Oscars

A galaxy of stars glittered at the 76th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday with extra sparkle added by diamonds draped on necks, dripping from ears and dazzling on fingers.

Best supporting actress winner Renee Zellweger, wearing a vintage diamond Riviera necklace by Cartier, was particularly dazzling.

“It feels like old Hollywood for some reason to me, the glamour of old Hollywood,” she explained. “It is like this really long-lived tradition. I kind of wanted to be part of that tonight, I guess.”

Meanwhile, Nicole Kidman wore a 195-carat necklace with natural green diamonds by Bulgari, Scarlett Johansson wore a 30-carat cluster necklace by De Beers and Angelina Jolie wore a $10 million Athena necklace by H.Stern.

Long, dangling earrings framing stars' faces were spotted everywhere with best actress winner Charlize Theron showing off diamond shooting star drop earrings by Chopard, Liv Tyler wore earrings by H.Stern and Julia Roberts modeled long diamond earrings by Cathy Waterman.

Right hand diamond rings were also popular with Johansson wearing a diamond cluster ring from De Beers worth more than $1 million, while Theron showed off a 4.68-carat ring by Chopard, Diane Lane wore a 22-carat classic emerald-cut diamond ring and Sandra Bullock had a seven-carat diamond heart-shaped ring by Lorraine Schwartz.

Apart from the usual necklaces, earrings, rings or bracelets, Sting wore an eight-carat diamond pin and seven-carat diamond Chopard cufflinks, “Whale Rider's” teen star Keisha Castle-Hughes wore a diamond whale hair clip.
