NamGem Workers Strike Ends
March 30, 04Following negotiations yesterday between NamGem and workers representatives the strike that halted work at the polishing plant since last Wednesday reached an end.

Yesterday (Monday) Namdeb announced that its subsidiary NamGem Diamond Manufacturing Company Management and the Mine Workers Union of Namibia “amicably” resolved the strike.
Employees are expected to return to work today.
The sides say they are committing themselves to adhere to the provisions of the Recognition and Procedural Agreement between NamGem and MUN, in particular clauses 15 and 16, which refer to how disputes must be resolved.
About seventy employees of NamGem have refused to return to work since midday Wednesday protesting managements restructuring plans introduced by Lazare Kaplan.
