Dubai Campaign Offers Customers Gold Win Chance
June 17, 04Jewelry consumers in Dubai are being offered the chance to win a kilo of gold in a promotional program being launched by the emirate’s Gold and Jewellery Group.

Being run in conjunction with the World Gold Council, the campaign aims to boost sales for the Group’s more than 300 retail members taking part in the 10-week event from June 17 to 27 August.
The promotion offers consumers the opportunity to win a total of 16 kilograms of gold and the chance to win back half of the purchase price of jewelry – up to a maximum payback of $340.
Gold and Jewellery Group Dubai Chairman Tawhid Abdullah predicted the promotion would lead to a sales increase of more than 7 percent.
“With an estimated 90 percent of all visitors to Dubai buying jewelry, we are anticipating another great summer and expect to see sales rise considerably compared to last year,” Abdullah said.
World Gold Council Managing Director, Middle East, Turkey and Pakistan, Moaz Barakat said: “This promotion comes on the back of a booming year for the industry in Dubai that saw retail gold sales increase by over 41 percent in the first quarter of 2004 compared to the corresponding quarter of last year.”
