Web Review: www.Diamonds-USA.com
September 11, 04By Gil Galanti
Serving as an excellent example of the industry's ongoing vertical integration process, diamonds-usa.com begins its business flow with purchasing rough stones around the world and polishing them at its facilities in
Diamonds USA Inc., the company operating the website, is the American sales division of David Braverman Diamond Cutting Industry of Israel. Braverman, a third generation industry veteran, has succeeded in combining the expertise gained from his more than 23 years in the trade with the business potential hidden in the web.
In Internet marketing terms, this site is a great success: its homepage has more than 1,200 external links pointing at it and therefore gains a 7/10 Google ranking, which is extremely high. As a result, it is placed at number 3 in Google for a “loose diamonds” search, a remarkable position. According to Alexa.com, Diamonds-USA.com has existed since September 3, 1997 and ranks 91,772 in the Internet's most visited websites.
I had two problems with this site. Surprisingly, although titled as “Diamonds-USA” and despite its nice flexible loose diamonds search mechanism, the website does not offer a very large loose diamond selection and I have only managed to extract 477 loose diamonds, priced at $320 to $57,429.
The price range seemed to be OK, since two thirds of the stones were priced from $600 to $5,000, but the overall stock felt a little small for a leading website of loose diamonds. In addition, the general speed of this site seemed to be relatively slow. I checked and found that Alexa.com defines this site as “Slow”, pointing out that 77% of all web sites respond faster.
I don’t like arguing with success so I'll stop here, as this one is a real winner.
