October 26, 04Children living with life-threatening illnesses will get some help in making their dreams come true from Makeadiamondwish.com, a website that will sell celebrity autographed diamonds and jewelry in aid of Make-A-Wish Foundation UK.

Television Presenter Melinda Messenger will launch as the face of Makeadiamondwish.com, supporting the charity that grants wishes for ill children.
The web site will engrave diamonds with the autographs of celebrities on the girdle of the stone. The laser autograph is not visible to the naked eye, but can be viewed with a loop.
The project says buyers of their diamonds will know that while they are making an indulgent purchase, they are also doing some real good. They expect the website, operated by jewelry e-commerce group GemNet Solutions Ltd, will generate annual revenues of about £400,000 ($735,000) for Make-A-Wish.
In addition to Melinda Messenger, former Spice Girl Emma Bunton, Sabrina Washington from Mis-Teeq and Fashion Presenter John Scott of ITV This Morning fame, are among the first celebrities lending their generous support to this campaign.
Sightholder A. Schwartz & Sons is among the diamond firms supporting the cause. “Customers of makeadiamondwish.com will benefit from the quality, style and value of the diamonds we supply for the site and the celebrity gala auction. Our company is thrilled to be able to help Make-A-Wish® children by supporting this worthy initiative,” says CEO Itai Schwartz.
An annual auction is planned, where 10 limited edition diamonds signed by celebrities will be auctioned with the aim of raising a further £500,000 for the charity. eBay will help secure pre-approved bidders across their 35 International web sites, to secure bidders from across the globe in addition to those attending the event. 10 wishes will then be granted to Make-A-Wish children on the night.
