Alrosa Rough Diamond Auction Closes

Alrosa sold $12.3 million worth of rough diamonds at the fifth auction held in Moscow. The auction, organized by the Russian Diamond Chamber and Russian diamond miner Alrosa, opened October 25 and closed late last week.

31 diamond dealers from Russia, U.S., India, Israel, Belgium and Belarus participated in the bidding for 601 diamonds weighing over 10,000 carats.

The international auction, open only to invited diamond companies, offers very big goods of 10.8 carats and heavier. Nine of the rough diamonds were over 50 carats each and the largest diamond sold weighed 97.53 carats.
