DDC Joins in Call to Aid Tsunami Victims
January 05, 05Jacob Banda, President of the New York Diamond Dealers Club (DDC), is calling on the global diamond industry for contributions to aid tsunami victims in South East Asia.
To aid in the international efforts, the DDC has set up the Diamond Dealers Club Tsunami Relief Fund to collect money from the diamond industry.
“It is imperative that substantial aid be made immediately available to victims of the disaster,” Banda said in a public appeal yesterday, be it to DDC’s fund or directly to relief agencies.
“The DDC is pledging a significant sum from its own funds to help those who have suffered so severely from the tsunami,” Banda announced, noting in particular India and Thailand, both key countries to the industry.
