Sight 6 Takes Place as Scheduled Despite London Bombing

The DTC’s sixth Sight of the year started today (Monday) as scheduled, despite taking place just four days after a series of explosions rocked central London, claiming at least 49 lives, bringing the bustling metropolis to a stand still.

After an emotionally tough weekend for Londoners, with many people still hospitalized, emergency services slowly removing bodies and debris from the sites of the underground explosions,, visible scars in plain view, tearful Sunday services but also ceremonies marking 60 years since the end of World War Two, Monday marked a return to normal for many.

De Beers’ marketing arm, the Diamond Trading Company, opened Sight 6 with 11 new Sightholders. It would have been a festive event for all if it hadn't followed Thursday's events.

Sightholders and brokers arrived as planned in London and attendees note that nothing in the schedule of the Sight has been changed. The business as usual approach means that new Sightholders will have a chance to enjoy their new status, while veterans will no doubt focus on price and selection.
