July 18, 05Dr Gaetano Cavalieri, president of CIBJO, The World Jewellery Confederation, made a five-day working visit to
The visit followed an invitation by Avi Paz, the newly elected president of the Israel Diamond Exchange. Cavalieri also held talks with Shmuel Mordechai, diamond controller of the Israeli Ministry of Industry and Trade and met with the heads of all the industry’s organizations and associations.
“I was very pleased to find that across the board, the Israeli gem and jewelry industry is not only intimately aware of CIBJO’s mission, but also unequivocally underwrites CIBJO’s efforts,” Cavalieri said.
“In our meetings, Avi Paz expressed his personal commitment to strengthen the cooperation between the Israeli diamond and the jewellery manufacturing industries. He pledged to put forward a proposal to his membership that the IDE join CIBJO. This, he said, would serve his organization’s interest in improving consumer confidence and protecting diamond jewellery products from reputational risk,” Cavalieri reported.
The CIBJO president stressed that he had also found a strong ally and friend in Shmuel Mordechai who "emphasized the importance that he and his office ascribe to CIBJO’s mission and to membership in the organization, and we expect to be working closely in the years to come,” Cavalieri said.
In a meeting with the leadership of the Israel Jewelry Manufacturers Association, Cavalieri said CIBJO would be glad to offer its assistance in enhancing the international character of the third edition of IJMA’s Jovella Show, which will take place in June 2006. He added that CIBJO plans to take an active role in the exhibition’s educational program.
