Australian Gold Production Continues Decline
August 29, 05It’s not what it used to be for the Australian gold industry. Gold production in the country has been declining in the few years, dropping over 15 percent in the past decade to 265 tons last year.
Since the 1990s, production has fallen more than 50 tons. The production of 265 tons in 2004/05 is 8 tons less than the year before.
Australia’s main gold mines are the Super Pit producing nearly 27 tons, Granites-Ground Rush yielding 16.74 tons, St Ives/Lefroy with almost 15 tons, Sunrise Dam at nearly 14 tons, and Ridgeway which produced 11.88 tons.
