DDC’s Banda Calls to Contribute to Katrina Charity Groups
September 07, 05New York Diamond Dealers Club President Jacob Banda is calling on members of the Club to contribute directly to charity organizations providing relief to survivors in the Gulf Coast region devastated by Hurricane Katrina.
While announcing that the DDC is working to raise funds for those who have suffered from the horrific results of the hurricane, Banda called on fellow diamond industry organizations, including the World Federation of Diamond Bourses and the International Diamond Manufacturers Association, to aid those harmed by the disaster.
According to Banda, “It is critical that substantial aid be made immediately available to victims of the disaster.”
It is estimated that the rebuilding cost following the hurricane could be at least $100 billion, with some estimates suggesting a figure as high as $150 billion.
