January 08, 06L.L.D., Lev Leviev’s diamond firm, headed the list of the top Israeli diamond exporters in 2005. L.L.D. exported some $601 million worth of polished diamonds, down from $611 million in 2004. Exports by Israel’s 30 leading polished diamond exporters total $3.139 billion in 2005, nearly half of Israel’s 6.707 billion in polished diamond exports in 2005.
Following L.L.D. are Leo Schachter ($418 million) and Moshe Namdar ($185 million). Schachter and Namdar were listed together in 2004 with a total of $431 million.
The majority of exporters on the list increased their exports over the year, the leading companies by about 10 percent.
The list, published annually by the Diamond Controller at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor, includes only those companies which agreed to have their names published. Eight companies elected to not be included in this year’s list.
