IDEX Online Poll: 75% View Recent HRD Events Unfavorably

In our last poll, we wanted to gauge reaction to the one event that had been dominating the diamond industry of late: the events at the HRD. With resignation after resignation and the possibility that the Diamond High Council could be declared illegal if changes were not made to the board structure, IDEX Online just had to ask, "What do you think is happening at the HRD?"

The results do not make good reading for the venerable Belgian institution. Only 11 percent of respondents think that events at the HRD are a battle to better serve the industry.

Four times that number, 44 percent of those who answered the poll, believe that, when it comes down to it, the Belgian affair is a battle of egos.

A further 31 percent of respondents take an even stronger stance, arguing that the HRD is corrupt. 

Only 7 percent believe that the events are of no consequence at all, while eight percent answered that they don't know anything at all about the HRD.
