HRD Announces Theme for Diamond Jewelry Contest
April 20, 06The HRD has announced that “A Night at the Opera” will be the theme for its upcoming international contemporary diamond jewelry contest. The bi-annual contest is open to all designers, who may submit as many original designs as they want.
“Fostering creative talent is one of the tasks of the HRD Awards,” the Antwerp based organization said. “Like fashion, jewelry design subsists upon uncommon ideas and their translation into new, innovative pieces.”
The HRD is encouraging mixing diamonds, “the symbol par excellence of traditional values, with avant-garde ideas,” saying that often results in unique jewelry pieces. “The contest aims at extending the limits of the modern diamond jewel. “
The designs should be original drawings, photos or a photo of a maquette and are inspired by the theme “A Night at the Opera”. Only 2D designs will be accepted and must be submitted no later than September 29, 2006. Size: A4, full color, name and address must be mentioned on the back side of every design. The source of inspiration must also be added.
A professional jury will pre-select the drawings, photos or photos of models by October 10. Famous, yet unannounced names from the international fashion and jewelry world will assess the actual diamond jewelry pieces and award the first prize of 5000 euros on May 24, 2007.
The HRD guarantees an international promotion program that includes several exhibitions and shows, press releases in all international trade magazines worldwide and a trilingual catalog.
