The World Diamond Council (WDC) will be launching a campaign at the June JCK show in Las Vegas to help the diamond trade better understand the details of the KP and the System of Warranties (SoW).
KP and SoW are backed by the U.N., and have been successful in curbing the trade in conflict diamonds. Today 99.8 percent of the world’s diamonds are now certified conflict-free.
The DTC, the sales and marketing arm of De Beers, is voicing its support for the initiative to raise awareness of how the issue of conflict diamonds has been addressed by the global diamond industry, civil society, and governments across the world.
It has produced a series of materials that Sightholders may choose to use, when raising awareness of the KP and SoW, and awareness of what they are doing to maintain consumer confidence in diamonds. One poster available to Sightholders opens with the statement ‘100% Committed,’ and closes with the question ‘Are You?’
Sightholders have had access to artwork for these materials since Friday.
