Hong Kong Show Day Two: Brown's the Color

The main venue of the Hong Kong jewelry show, the Hong Kong convention center, opened today (Tuesday) on the second day of the dual venue show. Long lines sprawled out at the registration desk, even in the late morning hours, as visitors piled in.

Many exhibitors are showcasing brownish goods – from TTLB to dark tea colors – seemingly in greater numbers than in past shows. Since the fair has just opened, it is too early to tell if demand for these goods will match supply. Fancy colors – mainly yellows and pinks – are as popular as ever.

In terms of design, there seems to be a move toward more delicate, fine lines, some in intricate designs. White gold is very widespread, much more than yellow gold, and rose gold, seen in many booths, is also popular.

Some booths seemed to be very busy, especially in Hall 1, where many of the local Hong Kong exhibitors are located. However, the Fine Design Pavilion, a high-end diamonds and jewelry pavilion, was unusually quiet, much to the dismay of exhibitors who pay extra for this prime location.
