October 08, 06
Former GIA president Bill Boyajian is being honored by the 24 Karat Club of Southern California with the Excellence in Service Award because of his 31 years at GIA.
Boyajian’s co-honoree at the dinner is Leonard Friedman of Sarah Leonard Jewelers of Los Angeles. Lenny, as he is known to his friends, started Sarah Leonard Jewelers with his wife Sunny some 60 years ago in the Westwood Village area of Los Angeles. Lenny, also a GIA graduate, is being honored for his many years of service to the jewelry industry in California.
A tribute book is being assembled for the Clubs 62nd Annual Fall Dinner Dance, being held on October 28 in Beverly Hills. Both the Dinner Dance and the tribute book are open to the industry.
Boyajian is now the managing director of the World Jewelry Center (WJC), currently being built in Las Vegas. The WJC will be a global destination complex for consumer jewelry shopping and a leading business hub serving top manufacturers, dealers, trade associations and wholesalers in the gem, jewelry and watch industries. The center is slated to open for occupancy within four years.
