African Diamond Producers Meet Today
November 01, 06The second preparatory meeting for the constitution of the African Diamonds Producing Countries Association (ADPA) starts today in Luanda, Angola. Ministers representing over a dozen African countries are focusing their efforts on the association’s draft statute and budget.
Other topics on the agenda are the formation of the executive secretariat, setting the criteria of selecting members, and the functioning mechanisms, the AngolaPress reported.
ADPA was formed to support the growth of the continent’s diamond industry through cooperation between the members’ states.
The first preparatory meeting took place early September, attended by ministers from Angola, South Africa, Botswana, Cote d’Ivore, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea-Conakry, Liberia, Mauritania, Namibia, Central African Republic, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe.
