India’s Leading Gem and Jewelry Firms Receive Awards

Awards were presented to the leading companies in the gem and jewelry sector for the Indian fiscal 2005-06 at The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council’s (GJEPC) 33rd Annual Awards Function held at Kolkata on Saturday.
The winners were presented their trophies by the Minister of Commerce & Industry, Government of India Kamal Nath and, the Chief Minister of West Bengal Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee who were the chief guest and presiding guest respectively.
The function was held within the Manikanchan SEZ, a gem and jewelry sector specific export zone that began functioning during the last year.
Leading exporters in the diamond segment include Sightholders K.Girdharlal, Laxmi Diamond, C. Mahendra and, Sheetal Mfg, and non-Sightholders J.B. & Brothers, Hari Krishna Exports, Godhani Gems, and Shairu Gems.
The largest jewelry exporters include Bangalore based Rajesh Exports, and Mumbai based companies like Kama Jewellery, Goldstar Jewellery, Renaissance Jewellery, Suman Jewellery, and Say India.
In the colored gemstone categories, Vaibhav Gems and Kothari Gems came out winners, while ABN Amro and State Bannk were cited for outstanding performances by banks. Leading importers from different countries and categories were also given awards.
