IGI Launches Lab-Grown Diamond Grading Report

The International Gemological Institute (IGI) is to launch a laboratory-grown diamonds report. IGI decided to do so due to the rising availability of lab made diamonds in the market and increased demand for such grading by makers and retailers.

IGI has been developing its laboratory-grown diamond grading system for over one year, with the intent of educating consumers by offering them accurate and reliable product information.

To further identify a lab-grown diamond, IGI will add a ‘Laboratory-Grown’ laser inscription on the girdle of each lab-made diamond.
