Joy Alukkas Group to Open Mega Showroom in Chennai Jewellery Mall

As part of its rapid expansion in the retail segment in India, Joy Alukkas, a leading Dubai jeweler, has entered into a strategic tie-up with Prashant Real Gold Tower (PRGT), a soon-to-be-launched jewelry mall in Chennai, to open a mega jewelry showroom within its premises.
This was announced at a recent press conference in Dubai which was addressed by Joy Alukkas, Chairman, Joy Alukkas Group and leading South Indian film stars Thiagarajan and Prashant, the promoters of the PRGT project.
According to the two companies, the 70,000 sq ft showroom will be the world’s largest jewelry showroom. The PRGT is a multi-storied tower erected in the heart of Chennai’s main jewelry bazaar, T. Nagar. It is planned to provide a modern and congestion free environment to the jewelry shopper. It is expected to commence retail operations later this year.
The 50 year old Alukkas group, which has had a presence in Kerala and the Middle East for many years, has over 60 retail outlets in six countries, and has been on a pan-Indian expansion drive during the last year. It opened showrooms in Delhi, Hyderabad, Madurai, Kochi and Thrissur and will launch new outlets in Tirunelveli, Bangalore, Salem and other key cities in the next few months. The group aims to have 100 outlets across the world by the end of 2008.
Alukkas was chosen “Local Retailer of the Year 2005” in the RetailerME awards and "Best Service Performance Brand" by the Dubai Economic Department for the first quarter of the year 2006.
