Gitanjali Launches Sporterati Collection, to Award Diamond Cricket Ball
March 20, 07 These unique trophies, possibly the first ever diamond studded cricket balls to be manufactured, will be presented to two outstanding achievers by the Gitanjali Group, one of the biggest diamond and jewelry manufacturers in India. This was announced today at a press conference in Mumbai by Mehul Choksi, Chairman, Gitanjali Group. The balls, each containing 295.6 grams of yellow gold, are each studded with 5,728 natural diamonds with a total weight of 31.5 carats. The diamonds are all square princess cuts measuring 0.90 x 0.90 mm, with color grades of H-I and clarity grades of VS-SI. Every one of the diamonds has been certified by the International Gemological Institute (IGI). During the conference, Choksi also unveiled a new jewelry brand, a sporty collection aptly entitled ‘Sporterati’. The Sporterati Collection is black enamel embellished with sporting motifs and figures in white gold. The brand is being launched by D’damas, a group company, on the backdrop of the World Cup cricket fever gripping India.
