IDI Opens Hong Kong Office
July 09, 07The Israel Diamond Institute (IDI) opened on Monday a representative office in Hong Kong. The office, IDI Asia Pacific Limited, was opened as part of the IDI’s strategic decision to enhance its presence in China. Last week it toasted the launch of its web site in Chinese.
The Hong Kong office will organize conferences and seminars, telemarketing, and public relations activities geared to Hong Kong, Chinese and regional markets.
“The potential of the Asian market, and particularly that of Hong Kong and China, is enormous, and represents the future direction for The Israeli Diamond Industry,” said IDI Chairman Moti Ganz.
Business between the Israeli diamond industry and Asian markets has been growing over the past several years. Today, Hong Kong represents the Israeli diamond industry’s second largest market after the U.S., accounting for about 16 percent of polished diamond exports.
In 2006, Israel exported more than $985 million dollars worth of polished diamonds to Hong Kong, increasing from $910 million in 2005.
