AWDC Sponsors Antwerp Basketball Team

The Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) signed a sponsorship agreement with the basketball team the Antwerp Giants. The Antwerp diamond community will sponsor the team for the next three seasons, according to the agreement.

The team will change its name to the “Antwerp Diamond Giants,” and players’ jerseys and the team logo will include the baseline “Diamonds love Antwerp.”

The Antwerp basketball team welcomes this cooperation, “We are happy with this collaboration with one of the economic driving forces of the city. Thanks to the support of the diamond community, we will be able to maximize our sports efforts,” said Roger Roels, president of the Antwerp Giants.

The diamond sector and the team wish to extend their cooperation beyond this unique initiative.

“AWDC and the Antwerp diamond community have been suffering from a lack of visibility and presence in our own backyard. From now on, that will change. With this support, we aim to strengthen our bond with the city of Antwerp through one of its most important sports clubs,” AWDC spokesman Philip Claes said.
