Alrosa, AWDC Sign Cooperation Agreement

Alrosa and the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC) last night signed an agreement of cooperation during the Alrosa-sponsored opening event of the AWDC conference.
“It is an agreement to cooperate in education and technical issues,” said Alrosa vice president Sergey Oulin. The parties say the goal of the agreement is to facilitate the development of the Russian diamond market and to promote Russian diamond products worldwide.
The agreement comes as Antwerp and Alrosa are facing the challenges posed by De Beers’ changing role in the industry, namely its direct supplies in Africa and the end of its purchasing agreement with Alrosa.
