CIBJO Congress to be Held in Dubai

The Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) announced that the 2008 Congress of the World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO) will be held in Dubai from April 14-16.

In attendance will be leading members of the international jewelry trade, as well as government and United Nations representatives, who will meet to address the global outlook for various industry issues.

DMCC noted that, as an international meeting of jewelry trade organizations and professionals has never before been taken place in the Middle East, the choice to hold the conference in Dubai recognizes its increasingly important role in the global jewelry industry.

Previously, CIBJO’s congresses have been held in North America, Europe, East Asia and, last year, South Africa.

“Strategically located at a crossroads between Western Europe and East Asia, Dubai is an increasingly ambitious participant in the global jewelry trade,” said David Rutledge, CEO of the DMCC.

“As host of one of the premier industry events, we will cement our reputation for excellence and increase awareness of the emirate's attractiveness – among jewelry trade organizations and, indeed, the global business community,” he continued.
