Japan Decreases Polished Diamond Imports in January
March 10, 08Japan’s imports of polished diamonds declined 12 percent in value and 17 percent in volume in January. The country, one of the biggest consumers of polished, imported $73.1 million worth of goods weighing 203,380 carats, an average value of $359 per carat.
India, the largest supplier of polished goods to the country, shipped 146,444 carats worth $27.4 million averaging $187 p/c. this marks a 13.5 percent decline in volume and 22.6 percent in value.
Belgium, the second leading source by value, shipped 19,936 carats worth $19.74 million, a 10.8 percent year-over-year rise in value.
