IGI Adds Mobile Lab in Dominican Republic

International Gemological Institute (IGI) has launched a mobile laboratory in the Dominican Republic to serve the jewelry manufacturing plants located throughout the area, including in the free trade zones of San Pedro de Macoris and Santo Domingo.

Part of an international growth program, which includes expanding its international certification services to meet the needs of the industry in burgeoning jewelry centers, IGI’s latest mobile lab opened on February 18. The grading center is run by Sergio Merizalde, a graduate gemologist who helped launch IGI Los Angeles in 2002.
