IDL Adds Jewelry Certification Service
March 12, 08 Starting next week, International Diamond Laboratories (IDL) will begin offering jewelry certificates. Available in three sizes, the jewelry certificates detail the precious metals and precious stones, including diamonds, used in the certified jewelry item.
IDL Jewelry Certificates provide a description of the entire jewelry piece and comprise the identification, weight and precious metals used. They also list the number of diamonds and precious stones, their natural character as well as their shape and measurements, clarity, color and finish and include an enlarged high-quality color photograph of the jewelry piece.
The three sizes are offered as a "luxurious pack," accompanying large pieces and sets, a compact certificate for single pieces and a credit card sized authenticity report.
"An independent third party analysis of diamond jewelry supports consumer confidence and helps retailers diversify their offer of branded and non-branded jewelry items," said Peter Meeus, CEO of IDL.
IDL is offering an option of co-branding the certificate with jewelry manufacturers and retailers, adding the client’s logo on the cover.
The certificates are available starting at $25 for small jewelry pieces containing diamonds up to 25 points and go up to $50 for diamond jewelry containing one carat and up diamond pieces.
Currently the IDL offers a line of loose diamond certificates – the IDL Diamond Certificate, the IDL Compact Diamond Certificate and the IDL Digicert.
