India Increases Rough Diamond Imports in April
May 13, 08India’s appetite for rough diamonds is continuing to grow, despite the rising cost of manufacturing and reports of a certain slow down in Surat. The country increased imports in April by 13.6 percent to 15.267 million carats worth $993.53 million, a 23.3 percent year-over-year increase in value.
The average value of rough diamond imports during the month was $65.08 per carat.
Exports of 3.41 million carats in April carried a stated value of $104.69 million, averaging $30.70 per carat.
