DTC to Raise Prices, Says Won’t Be a “Significant” Increase (Updated)
June 30, 08 by Edahn Golan
The Diamond Trading Company (DTC) is planning to raise prices, the company told Sightholders, some of whom understood the increase to be a “significant” one. The hike will most likely not take place at the upcoming July Sight, but rather at the August Sight.
Sightholders reported that they do not know how the announcement will affect the prices of particular boxes. Usually the DTC provides a percent range for how much the prices will be increased. That does not seem to be the case this time; however traders in the market are expecting a sharp double-digit rise in some items.
DTC Spokeswoman Louise Prior said the price increase will not be a significant one, and that it will affect only certain articles. The announcement comes ahead of the Hong Kong show, to take place in September. The company makes public price hike notices ahead of the Hong Kong, JCK Las Vegas and Basel shows
During the day, Sightholders were busy, almost frantic with the news. It is understood that the decision to increase the prices was made to gain some of the large premiums achieved from trading DTC boxes in the secondary market.
