A 29.6% Drop in Israel’s Polished Diamond Exports
July 01, 08 by Edahn Golan
Israel exported a net of $235 million in polished diamonds in June, a 29.6 percent year-over-year drop. The net results reflect large returns of polished goods following the JCK Las Vegas show, which opened the month before on May 30.
In the first half of the year, Israel’s polished diamonds exports grew by 5.9 percent to $3.796 billion.
About 48 percent of the country’s exports in June were shipped to the U.S., a decline from the +50 percent export share in the past. Some 27 percent of the goods were exported to Hong Kong and another 11 percent to Belgium.
Israel’s imports of polished diamonds rose a sharp 34.2 percent to $470 million.
