Finlay Comparable Store Sales Decreased 4.8% in Q2
August 11, 08Finlay’s second quarter sales increased 28.8% to $190.6 million compared to $148.0 million in the comparable period of 2007. These sales include $74.8 million from the recently acquired Carlyle, Congress, and Bailey Banks & Biddle. Comparable store sales for the quarter decreased 4.8%.
The U.S. fine jewelry retailer, which operates stand-alone specialty jewelry stores and licensed fine jewelry departments in department stores, saw comparable store sales decrease 4.6 percent in the six month period as well.
Sales in the six months ended August 2 increased 27.3% to $395.7 million compared to $310.9 million in the first six months of 2007. Specialty jewelry stores contributed sales of $152.5 million compared to $54.3 million in
2007.
Finlay operates 781 stores, including 67 Bailey Banks & Biddle, 35 Carlyle and five Congress specialty jewelry stores.
