Rough diamond tender at DDE
August 14, 08The Dubai Diamond Exchange will hold a tender of 60,000 carats of rough diamonds from the Ellendale mine in Australia. This is the first time goods from Ellendale will be tendered at the DDE.
In addition to the Ellendale goods, the DDE will also tender South African rough diamonds. This offering of 35,000 carats is double the volume it held in the past of these goods.
In the past year, the DDE has held monthly rough diamond tenders, promoting the Exchange and Dubai as an important rough diamond trading center.
The Ellendale mine was previously operated by Kimberley Diamonds and has been recently taken over by Gem Diamonds Ltd.
The tender will run August 24 - 27. DDE member participation in the rough diamond tender is at no charge and should contact the DDE Tender Administration to book a viewing time. Non-member companies can apply for membership during the tender.
